Halveo

Your PC deserves a second life.

Halveo OS replaces Windows, or runs alongside it. A desktop you already know, everyday software ready to use, regular security updates. And nothing that tracks you.

Can your PC switch to Halveo?

Windows 10 support ended in October 2025: its security fixes now only continue through a temporary programme. And many PCs can’t get Windows 11. Answer four questions to see where yours stands.

Halveo runs comfortably on this PC.

Windows 11Not supported

Windows 11 needs a processor from about 2018 or later, 4 GB of memory and a TPM 2.0 chip.

This is an estimate. The surest way is to try Halveo from a USB stick: it starts without changing anything on your disk.

Familiar from the very first minute.

The taskbar is at the bottom, the menu at the bottom left, and windows close at the top right. Everything is where you expect it, no training needed.

  • Instant search for apps and files
  • Drag a window to the screen edge to snap it to half the screen
  • Light or dark mode, Halveo wallpapers in 4K

Fast on a PC you thought was too old.

Many computers that Windows 11 leaves behind run Halveo very well. No TPM 2.0 chip or recent processor required.

  • 64-bit processor, 4 GB of memory recommended
  • 25 GB of disk space
  • Try it without installing anything, straight from a USB stick

Frequently asked questions

Is Halveo OS really free?

Yes, for home users, with no time limit and no ads. Halveo is funded by its Halveo Plus support plan and by services for schools and businesses.

Can I try it without erasing Windows?

Yes. Started from a USB stick, Halveo runs without touching your disk. When you install it, you can also put it next to Windows and choose at startup.

Will my Windows software work?

Not directly. Halveo offers alternatives for most uses: LibreOffice for office work, Firefox for the web, GIMP for photo editing. Many Windows games run through Steam. Before installing, check that your work software has a web or Linux version.

What is Halveo OS built on?

On Debian 13, a Linux distribution known for its stability, and the KDE Plasma 6 desktop. Halveo adds its own interface, settings, installer and support.

How do updates work?

Halveo offers updates when they are ready. You choose when, and security fixes install in a few minutes.

What about my data?

It stays on your computer. Halveo sends no usage data and does not ask for an online account.
