Halveo OS 1.0 “Orbite”
The first release of Halveo OS. It is being finalised and will be published here with its checksum.
System foundation
- Debian 13 “trixie”, 64-bit architecture (amd64)
- KDE Plasma 6 desktop, in a Wayland session
- Security fixes provided by the Debian project
- Common firmware included for Wi-Fi, sound, and AMD and Intel graphics
Halveo interface
- Taskbar at the bottom of the screen with the Halveo menu, pinned apps, notification area and clock
- Dark theme with an amber accent, four 4K wallpapers: Contours, Orbite, Dunes, Graphite
- Boot screen, login screen and lock screen in Halveo colours
- Files open with a double-click
Installation
- Trial mode from a USB stick, without touching the disk
- “Install Halveo OS” graphical installer, in English or French
- Install alongside Windows, on the whole disk, or with full disk encryption
- UEFI startup with Secure Boot, or legacy BIOS
Included software
Firefox, LibreOffice Writer, Calc and Impress, VLC, the software centre with Flatpak, the file manager, text editor, image viewer, PDF reader, screenshot tool, calculator, archive and partition managers, system monitor and printer settings.
Known limitations
- ARM processors are not supported yet.
- Recent NVIDIA graphics cards use the open source driver by default. The official NVIDIA driver can be added after installation, with help from support.
